Gros Piton Hike

Gros Piton from Mongouge

Gros piton, a World Heritage Site, is one of St Lucia’s most distinguished and recognized landmarks. Renowned not only for its majestic beauty, its accessibility by foot makes it the ideal adventure for those with a passion for an exhilarating outdoors experience.

Gros Piton stands majestically between the town of Soufriere and the village of Choiseul. Nestled 700ft up on its southern face is the historically symbolic village of Fond Gens Libre (Valley of the free people), one of two access routes to the Gros Piton Trail.

Anse L’Ivrogne, the bay at its southern base, well-known for the famous “Blue Hole”, is the second gateway to the Gros Piton nature Trail.

This nature trail is alive with natural, cultural and historical charms. There are several caves and “look out points” dating back to the Brigands. The arduous yet very exciting life of the Brigands is brought to life with the aid of tales and legend recounted by guides. The trail weaved through three different ecosystems boasting an Eden of flora and fauna, some endemic to the great mountain. On a luck day you may capture a fleeting glimpse of the ever elusive mongoose. Upon arrival at the summit there are two viewing points. The panoramas to the north and south if the island are quite simply beyond verbal description, a cracking good reward after an intense climb.

Your tour begins with meet and greets at your hotel lobby or cruise port where our ambassadors wearing their nature (Serenity) green are ever smiling. Then it’s off to Fond Gens Libre where trained guides are waiting to take you on a once in a life time experience.
