The highlight of this fabulous tour is a visit to the island’s distillery, St. Lucia Distillers Ltd. Its extensive line of specialty rums and liqueurs, 21 varieties in all, tease the palate with a unique ‘taste’ of the Caribbean. Flavors range from orange to ginger, cocoa to peanut, coffee to coconut.  


The fun begins with warm meet and greet with your ambassador at your cruise port arrival lounge, hotel lobby or private villa. At cruise port look for your ambassador's green polo shirt and the SERENITY sign.

Together, we’ll hit the road en route to 200-year-old Castries Cathedral, the largest and oldest church on the island. Ideally, it stands alongside the oldest tree on island, a 400-year-old Sea saman or rain tree.

 

 

 

 

 

 
 

 

  

                                                                                                                                                                        Morn Fortune with Viewing point  Morne Fortune

 Next stop, the historical ‘ruins’ of Morne Fortune for a bit of island history. These centuries’ old buildings were chess pieces as warring French and British armies, fought for possession of the island in the 1700s.

Next we visit the Caribelle Batik or Bagshaws studio were the art of batik and silk screen work are explained.  Lots of these beautiful pieces are on display and available for purchase.

We move from forts to farming with a detour to the Roseau Banana Plantation, where you’ll be treated to a taste of St. Lucia’s sweetest and most important agricultural export.

You’ll have a photo opportunity when we pause for a bird’s eye view of Marigot Bay one of the sites for well known films such as the original 1960s version of Dr. Dolittle and 1970s Sophia Loren film Fire Power. Marigot Bay with its secure cove and spectacular scenery is one of the most beautiful sites on the island.

The St. Lucia Distillers stop completes our day’s adventure with a rum tour. This 40 minute distillery tour : 

·   Information on the history of sugar & rum in St Lucia

·  A detailed description of the distillation process

·  Colorful displays of local carnival culture·
.  A glimpse of a typical rum shop

  • Castries capital to visit Cathedral
  • Morne fortune; viewing point, 17th century military barracks & College
  • Visit the Caribelle Bartik or bagshaws Studio - local batik art centre
  • Marigot Bay viewing point 
  • Drive through banana plantation (banana sampling)
  • Island rum rhythm tour with rum tasting on the rum buffet at the St Lucia Distillery
  • Optional Creole lunch at Marigot Bay.
  • Return to cruise port or hotel

Tour starts: 8:30am and ends at 11:30am (or 12:30  with the lunch option).  Possible afternoon session : 12:00 to 3:00 pm.

This tour requires a minimum of 4 people to be viable. We will accept bookings of two to three people with an option to change to another tour if the minimum number of persons for any given day is not achieved. You also have the option of doing this tour totally private at a cost of $50.00 per person.

A cancellation penalty of three nights deposit is in effect for all hotel bookings canceled within 7 days the low season and 21 days during the peak season of arrival and 50% for "no shows" at all hotels.
